At the moment I am loathing Facebook. A “friend” and I say that in quotations marks because if it wasn’t for Facebook, I wouldn’t have any worldly idea what she was up to, where she lived or that just last week she gave birth to a little boy and named it our top pick for boys names.  Bitch.

So now my dilemma of the day is, can I still use that name? I would think so, right? She doesn’t even live in the same part of the country as me. And like I said above, if it wasn’t for Facebook I would have no contact with her.

Damn social media!

And on the same topic, my third favorite girls name happens to be the daughter’s name of a “friend” from college.

What’s a expectant mommy to do? You know that when you name your child, unless you go the crazy Hollywood route of Apple or Pilot, that other kids will have your baby’s name. But it is different when you name your baby the same name as a friends kids…. or even a “friends” kid. Or is it?

The internet is great for baby name searches. I do love looking up name origins and their meanings. However, I don’t like to know that my name pick is number 14 on the top 100. I don’t want to my kids to have to be First Name Last Initial kid all through school. I don’t want to shout my kids name and have 8 other kids on the playground turn around.

That said, I don’t want a baby Pilot or Apple either.

I don’t want my “friend” to think I stole her baby boy’s name. But I don’t want to give up my top pick just because someone I knew in High School named their boy our boys name 8 months before we did.

I guess the only solution is to have a girl. This baby has to be a girl and our 3rd pick for girls name will just have to stay our 3rd choice.

Problem solved… now, is it too late to start praying for a girl?!
