on flooring at the Lumber Liquidators Labor Day sale last Monday.
I can not for the life of me keep my carpets clean.
I know hardwood will take a lot of sweeping, especially with our golden retirever/one night stand mutt, Lucy. But I think it will be worth it.
The flooring will up the value of our home. Look amazing. Save me time and money on carpet cleaning. And the biggest bonus, it will give the boys a huge area for them to set up their train sets. Let me tell you about the hours and hours I plan on watching them choo choo those cheap IKEA trains around and around while I tweet and write posts! This probably isn’t a really realistic dream, but to quote a quote from my recent post, Mr. Potato head asks, “…hey, I can dream, can’t I?”

My first post is up on MomSpark.
Check out where and how I find inspiration for my decorating, crafts, home improvement and everything else in between.
I am super stoked to be helping out Amy at Momspark. It looks like she has rounded up a diverse, yet great group of contributors. I am excited to be working with them. Hopefully, someday, I can make to one of the conferences and meet everyone in person. Until then, I will be lurking on their websites!

To that I reply smugly, with a hint of that’s-right-I am-finally-one-of-the-cool-kids, Mom Spark!
And to quote momspark.net (thats right .net, not .com – don’t get them confused or you will get a godaddy ad) directly:
Mom Spark is a cool, hip blog for moms. It is a place to bond, discuss and share recipes, tips, videos, reviews, and fabulous giveaways! It’s the place to go to laugh and learn with other moms without leaving your home!
I guess technically I am a pending contributor because I have yet to contribute anything…yet. I will be contributing in the areas of Arts/Crafts, Home Projects and Decorating. Once the ball is rolling, I will keep you up to date on all things Contributor.
Mommy Blog?
Aug 8th
I was looking back at old posts and realized there hasn’t been too much mention of my little ones.
I have a few excuses/reasons. I am a SAHM. I eat with my kids. I play with my kids. I nap when they nap. I get crabby when they get crabby. I talk in sentences that are short and have no use for a comma or semicolon. I am on their schedule. I talk their talk (and no I do not baby talk to my toddlers, but I also do not talk to them like piers either) I skip and hop to their running and jumping. I am basically a toddler with responsibility. So when I steal a few minutes to log onto the world wide web, I use those minutes to be me. And when I say “be me” I mean Google things like, how to not lose your mind or yourself when you are a SAHM. If you were wondering, there are 37,300 results when you search that phrase.
I could refer you to my about page for why I am doing this blog, but I have dinner in the oven (homemade pot pies: recipe coming soon), T is playing with the boys, the kitchen is oddly clean and I have a few minutes, so I am going to type.
Last night I had a girls night with a couple of my husband’s lady co-workers. My husband’s company is male dominated and because of all the relocating that happens most of the men that are married are married to SAHMs or housewives. So…there is a lot of gossiping going on between the wives. The co-workers I met up with are my favorite people to hang out with, not only because they offer new and first hand insight to the gossip, but they are just plain old fun to be around.
We talked about everything and everyone. It was so much fun. But all they could ask me about was what was up with my boys. I hate that. Yes I am a SAHM and yes that means I do not work outside the home. But NO, it does not mean that all I have to contribute to a conversation is about diapers, play dates and gossip.
In their defense, I am riding a unpredictable hormone roller coaster. If that is too much info for you, then you must be a male or one of those lucky women who do not PMS, because it matters. On top of PMSing, it was my first period after going off the pill which intensifies EVERYTHING! So I may bit a bit on the defensive and sensitive side about where I am in my life, what I do with my life, and the title that most define me with, SAHM.
Where was I?
Oh yes. Why I do this. I am learning to embrace my SAHMhood. I am learning that its okay to be “just a mom.” I don’t need another title. I can talk about more than just my kids and still be a good mom, but I am a mom, a SAHM. I should be happy, content and even proud of that.
I want to be a better mom and so many mommy bloggers, inspire me to be better. They may be telling a story about their kid hating a family camping trip, or moms talking about if you should be naked in front of you kids or even just sharing a tempting recipe. It doesn’t matter. They are mamas fighting the good fight.
I doubt I will inspire anyone. Maybe, just maybe, I can make another suffering SAHM smile or even laugh at some of my boys’ isms or one of their infamous QOTDs, share a tasty recipe, show off a photo I am proud of and hopefully weasel my way into the mommy blogging community.
Holy Cow- Lifetime Movie cheesy moment there. I apologize. Hormone coaster must have went on a sentimental dip for a minute there. I swear I started this post pissed off… oh well. Did I even answer the question? I don’t think so. My High School English teacher would be having a hay day over this post. Who cares, right? What does matter is that the oven is beeping and I am being called back to reality!
