Check me out at Mom Spark for my latest post Remodel for Resale: Part One!
You may ask, “What is Mom Spark?” I won’t try and explain. Amy tells it best. She founded it after all!
I have written a few posts (read them here, here and here) already and plan to keep writing posts as long as @MomSpark keeps posting them. I am not the only Contributing Contributor. There is a great group of ladies that help out Amy. We cover a variety of topics and there is even an occasional give away! (The latest give away is a gift certificate for Yummie Tummie!)
So if you missed the first 10 links to Mom Spark… click here! to check out a great site that I enjoy reading, surfing and writing at.
This is why we spent $2,578…

on flooring at the Lumber Liquidators Labor Day sale last Monday.
I can not for the life of me keep my carpets clean.
I know hardwood will take a lot of sweeping, especially with our golden retirever/one night stand mutt, Lucy. But I think it will be worth it.
The flooring will up the value of our home. Look amazing. Save me time and money on carpet cleaning. And the biggest bonus, it will give the boys a huge area for them to set up their train sets. Let me tell you about the hours and hours I plan on watching them choo choo those cheap IKEA trains around and around while I tweet and write posts! This probably isn’t a really realistic dream, but to quote a quote from my recent post, Mr. Potato head asks, “…hey, I can dream, can’t I?”
I am in love…

with my new chandeliers. It is Iloveyousomuch-SCREWglobalwarming-theselightsarestayingon24/7 love. Every time I walk into a room with the new lights, I can’t help but flip them on and admire. Don’t get me wrong. I love polar bears as much as anyone else. I don’t want to see them drowning on their quest for land. But really, if I was a polar bear, I would totally understand why these lights need to be on. They are fantastic!
Let there be LIGHT!

And what beautiful light it is!
They are not the fanciest and definitely not the most expensive thanks to a fantastic sale at Menards…

but I am stoked.
We moved in to our home May of 2008. It has been an uphill battle ever since. Someday I will tell you all about the gigantic hole that we discovered in our backyard as the snow melted. Gigantic doesn’t even begin to describe the pile of rock and dirt taller than my 5’6″” frame that was left next to the hole. That hole was the tip of the “Oh… this is why we got a steal on this foreclosed home!” project list.
At the top of the list, after filling in the gigantic-did I mention it was GIGANTIC?!- hole, was the light fixtures. All the light fixtures.
This is why, and here are some other pics of our disastrous decor lighting.

and if you think, maybe they looked better turned on… they didn’t

needless to say, I was more than excited to see the sales flyer. The next morning I loaded up the boys and headed to Menards where I proceeded to overload the cart with boxes of bliss.

some assembly was required, but it was well worth the savings of doing it ourselves. And by ourselves I mean, I lended a hand when needed while T did all the wiring.

it took 14 bulbs (Menard’s Buyer’s Choice has a really fair price on bulbs)

and then the magic happened. Our rooms have been transformed. For about $300 we changed 5 lighting fixtures and now the house has a -to be precise- soft white glow and the ugly 90′s food caked chandeliers are gone for good!

World’s Most Ugly Chandelier
Aug 6th

This chandelier and two other matching ones were hanging in our house when we bought it over a year ago. Changing them have been on the top of my list since T convinced me that this was the house for us. Last night we started the switching out process. I couldn’t be happier, well, I guess I would be happier if they were all up. We hit a few snags while installing the first one and at 10:26pm last night we finally got it up. We called it a night and T vowed to finish them tonight. I can’t wait to get these ugly, food caked (thats right! the glass has permanent bits of food stuck on it from the previous owners — Yummy!) energy hogs will be out of my house by tonight! I will post pics of the replacements as soon as they are installed.
